Chiropractic-MissionLordex Spine Decompression System Procedure for Lower Back Pain Treatment

Lordex-Spine-Decompression-ProcedureOur professional chiropractic mission is to help you experience the greatest benefits possible. The non surgical decompression protocol for our low back pain patients usually requires  20 procedure sessions to fully decompress, nourish, hydrate and oxygenate the affected discs. A maintenance program (consisting of periodic treatments throughout the year) will be required to sustain the traction affects to promote functional capacity and maintain spinal motion dynamics. 90 percent of patients regain optimum spinal function.

For most patients, an hour long visit, consisting of all therapies follow a standard protocol. We kindly ask that you arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment to complete a visual pain analog and prepare for your Lordex Spinal Decompression treatment procedure. We suggest you dress comfortably, most patients prefer warm up or exercise clothes to change into prior to beginning treatment.

Lordex-Spine-Decompression-System-ProcedureBefore starting treatment on any of the Lordex Spinal Decompression Units, Lordex Axial Inversion Decompression Unit or the Lordex Strength Restoration Machine, you will be asked to please remove any personal objects from your pockets, to visit the lavatory and quiet your cell phones. Dr. McKirahan or a physical therapist will determine for each visit on which machine you will begin the Lordex Spinal Decompression treatment procedure. It may be appropriate on each visit to use the Lordex Strength Restoration Machine first, while for other visits, one of the Lordex Decompression Units. Unless otherwise prescribed, the Lordex Spinal Decompression Unit procedure is 25 minutes in length for decompression.

We encourage you to bring your favorite CD or use your phones music list to enjoy listening too, while relaxing on either of the Lordex Decompression Units for your treatment.  During each procedure, you will be fitted with a chest vest and pelvic harness. While you are comfortably positioned on your back, a knee wedge will support your legs and if needed, a small lordotic bladder is available to support your lumbar region.

The Lordex Spinal Decompression table slowly and gently separates, relieving you of the pressures that pinch the nerves. This process allows for vital circulation to be restored to the damaged, painful areas of the lower back, while stimulating your body’s natural healing process to realign the herniated or bulging discs into proper position.

After you complete the 25 minutes of decompression, you will then begin your strength restoration therapy on the Lordex Rx2 (Strength Restoration Machine) which will re-stabilize your spine and relax muscles that might otherwise spasm. Next to your buttock muscles, your lower back muscles (erector spinae) are the largest muscle group in your body. Without the strength and support of these muscles, the low back becomes weak, unstable and unable to maintain the corrected posuture. The Lordex Strength Restoration Machine is designed to effectively make your core muscles ( back and abdomen) stronger and more stable, giving ability to hold up the decompression therapy.

Each Lordex Strength Restoration Machine procedure consists of;

– Pelvic Stabilization
– Eccentric / Concentric progressive resistance throughout your own range of motion in both flexion and extension.
– Release
– During each session you will be coached on movement form, breathing, control and focus on the lumbar spine.

The 60-80 flexion / extension repetitions introduce a kinetic activity that produces strength gain and stabilization. The final procedure following the Lordex Spinal Decompression Unit and Lordex Strength Restoration Machine is the Lordex Stretch and Flex program.

This involves passive stretching in a treatment suite performed by a Lordex therapist. The goal of the Lordex Stretch / Flex program is to improve our patient’s overall range of motion and flexibility. Each of our patients will undergo approximately 25, one-hour sessions to advance from a state of dysfunction to restored functional capacity.
