Spinal Decompression 3-Phase Treatment for Lower Back Pain
Achieve pain relief as soon as possible.
If qualified for treatment with the Decompression unit, as a general rule, most patients experience significant changes in their symptoms within the first three to eight spinal decompression procedures. Occasionally, a more advanced degenerative condition or multiple level herniated discs may take 10-15 sessions before realizing a major decline in symptoms. Some patients appear to have rapid relief after the first treatment. Relief response varies according to age, body morphology and degree of severity.
Traditional chiropractic methods of treatment may also include chiropractic adjustment manipulation, axial inversion, TENS, electrical therapies, Arthrostim or massage therapy, depending on the conditions. Like decompression, results may still vary but some experience significant change within the first adjustment and treatment or 24 hours after treatment. Dr. McKirahan will evaluate you and prescribe the appropriate combinations if necessary.
We use the latest and most advanced state-of-the-art techniques and equipment to insure our patients have the best methods of pain relief treatments and care available to them. We know you have a choice and we’ve tried to make that choice as simple as possible. Contact us today and get started towards pain relief now.
Phase 2; Correct the back pain source.
As strength is regained in the lumbar spine, re-hydration and re-oxygenated is restored to the damaged disc, and the healing begins.
Correction implies that the progressive process that leads to the painful episode has been slowed, stopped or reversed. This corrective process occurs simultaneously with symptom relief. This process and experience is both different and unique for each individual patient.
Throughout the correction stage, we will keep you well informed and coach you through to obtain maximum results based on your unique diagnosis and physical condition. We will help you understand what is or is not happening, the affects and what can or cannot be done about it.
During this stage we may also continue using multiple chiropractic techniques as required to achieve the best results for and with you. Dr. McKirahan overseas your progress every step of the way and keeps your treatment accurately focused on achieving the optimum results. Our technicians are highly skilled with the same objective.
Phase 3; Strengthen the problem area.
The process that leads to most low back pain (mechanical spinal pathology) involves destabilization of the support structures, degeneration and ultimately re-stabilization. The strength rehabilitation procedure quickly reintroduces kinetic activity to the joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments to help you regain back strength and restore lost lumbar stability. The strengthening targets the abdominal muscles and the low back muscles to create a strong core, while educing the probability of muscle spasms during treatment.
Each patient will complete 20 – 30 strength rehabilitation procedures at various paces. Some prescriptions will be daily for 20 – 30 treatments; others may be daily for 1-2 weeks followed by a decreasing frequency. Your individual condition dictates the prescription for your care.
Following completion of the Spinal Decompression 3-Phase Treatment Protocol, you will be prescribed or given a Maintenance plan that will require you to come in periodically for a tune up. A day or two of treatment to maintain the adjustments made to your spine over the course of your treatment plan, as to make sure re-injury doesn’t occur.
